The sailing area from Phuket extends from the Burmese border to the North, which includes the Surin Islands, to the Malaysian border to the South, which includes Koh Tarutow and Koh Lipe. The area in between is arguably the most scenic and beautiful coastal area in the world, with hundreds of idyllic tropical islands with good sheltered moorings. Phang-nga bay is featured in many television broadcasts and famous films. There are also several national parks with protected flora and fauna. Phang-nga bay provides shelter in either season. To the South of Phang-nga is the famous Phi Phi Islands, which was the location for the filming of the movie The Beach. To the South East of the Phi Phi Islands is Koh Lanta, which is a very unspoiled wildlife attraction, and to the South East of Koh Lanta is the Islands of Koh Ngai, Koh Nuk and Koh Cradan. South of Koh Lanta is Koh Rok, Koh Nok and Koh Rok Nai. For the more adventurous taking a longer cruise, or planning a longer cruise, the Islands around Koh Tarutow are worth a visit. To the North of Phuket, the resorts of Phuket, located in the west coast, may be visited and provide suitable sheltered moorings during the North Easterly season, and it is possible for those planning a longer cruise to visit the Similan and Surin Islands. The fabulous tropical scenery, with palm fringed beaches and the friendly locals, will make for a wonderful holiday experience.
